Lauryn Hill launches new Festival called “Diaspora Calling”

launched her new festival celebrating African music. The Festival is called the African Diaspora Music Ans Arts Festival. It started on April 15th 2016 and will last three days later.

 The Festival started with  a private art gallery at the Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre. The art Garry was opened to the public on Thurday and Friday.

  
When asked why the name of this Festival, Lauryn Hill said that the Festival will present different music, culture and style. It’s a rich festival. She also said that: 

 Even if we work independently, we are a resounding collective voice, both reconciling and embracing our relationship to history, our origins, our future and to ourselves.

Lauryn Hill performed last Friday and it was sold out. Her performance marked the beginning of the Festival on the music side. Her concert was live streamed by TIDAL.

  
This festival features the following artists: Machel Montano (Trinidad), Stephen ‘Ragga’ Marley (Jamaica), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Mr. Eazi (Nigeria), EL (Ghana), Wondaboy (Nigeria), JoJo Abot (Ghana) and Paul Bearbrun (Haiti).
